Good music, bad jokes, and baseball. Thats how Dr. Rager H. Moore II described the fall choral concert to be performed Oct. 24 by students at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith.

Two choral groups from 酴圖弝け will present this concert as part of Season of Entertainment 33. Performing as an ensemble are the University Chorale and Womens Chorus, with both directed by Moore of Prairie Grove, who is director of choral activities.

The 7:30 p.m. concert will be performed at the Arkansas Best Performing Arts Center at the Fort Smith Convention Center, 55 S. 7th St.

According to Moore, the concert will explore how music gets us from one place to another, reminds us of past experiences, doles out good life advice -- and how it simply entertains, often with humor.

Students from the Chorale will sing selections from Handel and Bach, as well as the poetry of Carl Sandburg.

Moore explained that humor will be featured in those presentations. Audience members may recognize the Handel, but the Bach may be one that will surprise them and actually make them laugh.

The Womens Chorus will sing the poetry of Dorothy Walters that offers everyday advice. They will also sing nursery rhymes conducted by three of their fellow students: Kirsten Binns, Moriah Hayes and Ellie Miller.

The final number of the concert is a well-known American tune that speaks to the core of American culture and the game thats often called Americas pastime.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame contains the poetry of Jack Norworth and the original tune by Albert Von Tilzer, composed in 1908 before either man had attended a ballgame.
